One Thousand Gifts (Continued)

"...we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do"
(Ephesians 2:10).
Suitcase in her hand. Smile on her face. She's ready for a week of camp. Her mom's not ready, though. It's been one day and I miss her already!

We arrive in time for the outdoor church service and we listen to the beautiful, young woman speak from her wheelchair about this year's theme "Handmade" based on Ephesians 2:8-10. She is unable to read the verses, but a counselor reads them for her. Her voice breaks up a bit, but her assistant feeds her some water. She briefly forgets the words that she was going to say, but she pauses to pray aloud and the Holy Spirit fills her mind with clarity and the words that God would like her to convey to us.

Because of this courageous, godly young woman, this text comes alive to me more than ever before... we are ALL His workmanship, created in HIS image to do good works!! Praise the Lord!

 Continuing to give thanks...

One Thousand Gifts (Continued)

"When all the people say this, they fell prostrate and cried, 'The LORD-He is God! The LORD- He is God'"
(1 Kings 18:39).

Dictionary's definition of prostrate: to lay oneself flat on the ground face downward, especially in reverence or submission.

I stand in awe of all that God has made and what He has done for me. However, the other day, I fell prostrate before Him and cried to out to Him. I am so thankful for a loving Father who hears my cries, grants forgiveness, and continually shows His love. I am grateful that I can lay everything at the foot of the cross and that He will lavish me with grace, mercy and peace. Thank-you, Father.

One Thousand Gifts (Continued)

"Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?" And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God.'"
(Matthew 14:29-33)

I love what our intern pastor said about this passage yesterday in church. Some highlights from yesterday's sermon are... Storms will come, and we too often doubt like Peter did. However, we need to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. We need to trust in Him and have faith in Him, not in what we are able to accomplish. Even in our times of doubt, Jesus has compassion and mercy and he "reaches out his hand". How comforting! And what does He do during our storms? He climbs into the boat with us!
