One Thousand Gifts (Continued)

"Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?" And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God.'"
(Matthew 14:29-33)

I love what our intern pastor said about this passage yesterday in church. Some highlights from yesterday's sermon are... Storms will come, and we too often doubt like Peter did. However, we need to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. We need to trust in Him and have faith in Him, not in what we are able to accomplish. Even in our times of doubt, Jesus has compassion and mercy and he "reaches out his hand". How comforting! And what does He do during our storms? He climbs into the boat with us!

Reason Enough
by:  Ernie Haase, Joel Lindsey, Wayne Haun

You have walked me through the valley Of the shadows dark and low And that's reason enough to believe You have shown me endless mercy Oh why, I'll never know And that's reason enough to believe.

Chorus: So I won't wait for signs and wonders To teach me how to trust Cause You've already proven Lord The depths of Your great love You took the cross so willingly And spilled Your precious blood And that's reason enough to believe Yes, that's reason enough for me.

When I took Your grace for granted I was granted even more And that's reason enough to believe With compassion You convinced me I'm not hopeless anymore And that's reason enough to believe.

Chorus: So I won't wait for signs and wonders To teach me how to trust Cause You've already proven Lord The depths of Your great love You took the cross so willingly And spilled Your precious blood And that's reason enough to believe Yes, that's reason enough for me. That's reason, that's reason, That's reason, ohh...

One Thousand Gifts (Continuned)

"Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken"
(Isaiah 40:4,5).

Life has its ups and downs, a bit like a roller coaster. We have all experienced those exciting, mountain top experiences and those difficult lows in valleys. However, God is always with us in valleys and on the mountain tops. As Lynda Randle says, "The God of the mountain will see you through life's valleys." Take comfort, you are never alone.

God On The Mountain Lyrics (sung by Lynda Randle)

Life is easy when you're up on the mountain And you've got peace of mind like you've never known. But then things change and you're down in the valley. Don't lose faith for you're never alone. For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley. When things go wrong, He'll make it right. And the God of the good times is still God in the bad times. The God of the day is still God in the night.

You talk of faith when you're up on the mountain. Oh but the talk comes easy when life's at its best. But it's down in the valley of trials and temptation That's when faith is really put to the test. For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley. When things go wrong, He'll make it right.

And the God of the good times is still God in the bad times. The God of the day is still God in the night. For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley. When things go wrong, He'll make it right. And the God of the good times is still God in the bad times. The God of the day is still God in the night. The God of the day is still God in the night.

One Thousand Gifts (Continued)

"Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble" (1 Peter 3:8).

It was a long day. He had spent the whole day building our new gazebo.  He needed my help with the roof.  I am thankful to say that we were able to work together without any squabbles (even in the rain)!  Almost 18 years of marriage, and we continue to "live in harmony with one another"!
